The passenger side back door hasnt opend in almost 2 years now because the latch is broken, i took the panel off the door with it closed to see if i could open it, turns out the door handles are attached and functioning but no matter what it wont open, i found a 93 SE in a junk yard that i can get the latch assembly off of, now the question is how the hell do i get the door open or take the latch assembly off with the door closed?????? i looked at unbolting the latch from the inside of the door, theres no way thats working the bolts dont go in that way.
How do i do this??

Have never had a rear-door panel off.... Not exactly sure how it sits there... but Is there room enough to try to drill small holes in the latch so as to be able to break it off from the inside....???

Not sure that'* a good idea, but might be an option????

Tried working the lock mechanism back and forth? Sounds like maybe the lock isn't releasing all the way.

Anything short of this will just ruin the door hardware.

But Alan, he says he'* already got the inside door panel off; what more is a Slim Jim going to do for him here?

I'm thinking the door lock isn't unlocking. Maybe one of the door handle rods, either the inside or the outside rod, isn't fully retracted, and so the lock mechanism can't unlock -- you know, like when you're trying to unlock the door from the inside, but the person who'* trying to get in lifts the outside handle too soon; know what I mean?

Does the door lock slider feel like it'* moving properly? How does it compare with the working door on the opposite side?

i brought the car to the dealership with the panel off, i asked if a mechanic could take a look, they moved the lock slider rod back and fourth probally a hundred times, he used some really fine looked like dentist picks to get in there and move some stuff around, he said the door handles are in perfect working condition and the child saftey lock is off, its just that the hook is not releasing he tried baning on it and rapidly moving the door handle up and down while locking and unlocking the door. He said if the door opend it most likley wouldnt close again and if it did i would end up with the same problem. I phoned the dealership they can get me one for 95 bucks, i phoned a junk yard they have a 93 SE but they refuse to take the latch out of it because the door is in nice shap.

Presumably someone, you, the dealer, has tried spraying WD40 in the lock assembly.

Yours sounds like a special problem but unless a car was pranged up in an accident I have always been able to get the latch/lock working again with generous use of WD40, especially with access from inside.

Well for starters, it may attack the mechanism from a different angle that may work rather than from the presently exposed one. Sometimes that alone will make all the difference.
