pcv/map sensor
OK, still running with check engine light on (code P0106) and not sure what to do next. I have a few leaks that I need to take care of on my 96 SE w/150k. I seem to have an excessive amount of oil on my pcv and map sensor. Would that be the symtoms of a bad pcv valve? I've got new parts and will put them on when I find some new O -rings. I want to clean the EGR but not sure exactly what to do. Once I remove it will I just spray it down with carb cleaner or do I need to do more? I have an OBDII scanner that will erase codes but I want to wait untill I have made some adjustments to see if that works.

So no ideas of what to do? Should I just not even worry about it and try to erase the code? That light really drives me crazy. Is there any info on cleaning the egr?

PCV is easy...pull it out and shake it. If you hear a rattle it'* functioning but could be sticky inside.
EGR, being an S2 you can't clean as good as the mushroom EGR'*. I pulled it off and just sprayed carb cleaner up into it. Make sure to use a fresh gasket.
What is the code you are getting? Meaning what does it translate to?

The code has been there for awhile. I have a sears diehard battery that has some extra cranking amps (suv supposedly) but does fit the bonne, as well as a 140 alt from Advance, would this send the circuit out of range? Even with the code though the car runs nice. My belt needs to be replaced along with pulley with a little squeak. I just want to get her mechanically sound before I throw money into cosmetics, she has a rainbow of parts.

Since you have your own scanner, I say clear the code and see if it comes back. The battery and alternator will not cause this code.
I just replaced my MAP sensor and PCV valve, BTW, and I just reused the old O Rings. I couldn't find replacements anywhere, and it'* been just Hunky Dory that way.
