Default Engine swap

Quick question, can I swap my '94 L27 and tranny into a '93 SSEi?

Yes, if you swap all the wiring and such...but why in the heck would you want to do something like put an L27 into an SSEi?

Question was asked mostly in jest.

I was curious as to the answers from the SC crowd.

This isn't the lounge. This is the section of the forum where we ask for help with mechanical problems.

Deliberate jesting here doesn't get the privelege of a move. I'm assuming I read your explanation correctly.

Post unlocked if you care to seriously discuss this.

When you say you posted in jest, it kinda rubbed me the wrong way. We take the mechanical posts and sections of this forum very seriously.

My most sincere apologies to you and the rest of the people here.

My original post was serious, but because of an unsuitable donor car became mute.

I still think it is a valid question.

I assume if the swap was made, I'd need to exchange PCMs also, any other hardware I would have to change?
By all the wiring, you mean ALL the wiring? I'm not trying to be a pain or to rub anyone the wrong way, I'm a very curious person when it comes to this sort of thing.

And yes, I can see where having an NA motor in an SSEi badged car could be considered sacrilege.

Your biggest problem will be the custom PCM you'll need.

Your L27 PCM won't shift correctly with the gear ratio of the trans in the SSEi. The PCM, engine wiring harness, trans, and engine will all need to be swapped over.

the 93 pcm will run and shift the 94 engine. you need a new prom. not a whole pcm.

and only some of the wiring would have to be changed. not all.

1 change off the top of my head would be the egr wiring. on the 93 L67 which has the 3 solenoid, digital egr. the green connector pin c9, is for the boost control solenoid.

for the 93 l27, the c9 pin was for the "a" solenoid on the egr.

i dont think there is many other differences, if any, in the wiring.

but because the 94 l27 probably has a linear egr, you would have to use the 93s digital egr, or delete the egr.

as far as the prom goes you could
1- find a prom from a junkyard,
2- have the 93 prom re programmed. i had one done for my project in my sig., by a guy at www.gmtuners.com , named ryan. he was and is very helpful and im sure can help you on this.
