Default my cars is dead

ok so drove the good all morning (1 1/2 drive) then i get to work and i leave for lunch and its fine well i leave to go back to work and the cars misfireing. #6 coil is very black and dirty others looks brand new(almost like crome) i pulled #6 plug and its all nasty looking. what should i do. im plan on getting all new plugs and wires, but should i get the coil also? if so they are a simple unscrew old one and install new one right? nothing special? no lubes or anything. im buying belden wires do they come with dielectric grease?

also service light it flashing if that helps? the bad coil and plug would cause that light to flash and would cause the misfire right? it did on my wifes staurn.

Right..the light could be the misfire. I had that when I washed my engine before wires the first time. Check the resistance on the coil, clean or replace as necessary and yes...simple unbolt and pull up.

Thanks again for scaring the crap outta me about your car being dead and gone...(guess I know the feeling now)

Get your car scanned for codes. That'* top priority.

The next step would be to start with replacing plugs and wires. I don't know about aftermarket options since I'm not a modder... I stick with stock only.

As for the coil packs, yes, you're right..simply unscrew the old and screw in the new. You don't need any grease on the coils, but dilectric grease is a good idea on the plug wires.

i do plan on having it scanned after i get it running right cuz as of right now it wont move it just shakes really bad. but if after i do the coil, plugs and wires it still doesnt work then what?

o and how do i cheak the resistance? car on or off? im thinking off with my on right? and just measure from coil tip to plug wire boot contact right?

Look for vacuum hoses that might have recently broken and small stuff. Something let go. It'* a matter of finding it.

ok so i did the plugs wires and the coil. spent $100 and still misfires. i check all vacuum lines that i could. but i dont see how a vacuum could cause a miss.

i might go buy a scanner tomrrow cuz my wifes car throws codes every month so it would be worth the money.

It would be in your best interest to check Ebay. I got an Actron CP-9145 Superscanner for $185. The Actron website has the MSRP at $300

Default coil

check accross the two posts of each coil with a needle type ohm meter.
Resistance should be the same in all coils. if you have one way off its probably dead.
