Default screeching from front of engine

I have a 97 Bonneville SSE, no supercharger, 103k miles. When the car warms up to operating temp, I get a noise like a belt screech when i take off from a stop. I can also get it to screech while in park if I snap the throttle quickly. basically when i first put a load on the motor it will make the noise. Here'* the kicker, I ran the car with no belt and it still makes the noise. I am having trouble pinpointing exactly where the noise is coming from but it is around the front of the engine. If anyone has experienced this or has any ideas they would be appreciated greatly!

thanks,
Pat

Try removing the oil filler cap, and see if the noise goes away. Feel any vacuum if you put your hand over where the cap was? Have you done anything with the PCV valve lately? Check the PCV valve to see if the O ring is still there. It should either be around the bottom of the valve, or down inside the UIM.

Edit - This is how it should look.

Yep.. PCV is the first thing to look at for a quick throttle screech.

Default thanks

I removed the oil cap and the noise did go away. Thanks for the advice. I replace the pcv not to long ago but i'll check and see if that o-ring might be damaged

Default thanks again

I guess whenever i replaced the pcv valve i did not replace the o-ring around the bottom of the valve. Sure enough that took care of the problem.
