Default Mysterious leak of coolant somewhere over the water pump

its possessed! It only leaks when its sitting, and only a couple times a week. but when it does it leaves a big puddle and a third of my coolant dissapears. I thought i had a bad water pump and brought it in, of course it didnt leak for the dealership when they pressure tested it. I thought it might be a bad bearing in the pump but they said it either works or it doesnt work. ??? I think when its hot, it doesnt leak, it has to cool off pretty good.

had anyone else had this problem? If so, did the water pump decide to go all the way?

The fitting where the bypass hose enters the accessory end of the lower intake. Sounds like it'* leaking as the engine cools.....so I'd say as the block and lower intake expand and contract, it seals or opens the leak. I've dealt with this on Jseabert'* L27 before.

thanks very much guys. The fitting on the bypass hose, is that just a hose clamp type thing or are the fittings repalceable? it would be awesome if its just the fitting, the water pump installed is a lot o korn.

The frustration thing is the only time it leaks is in my garage!

It'* a round fitting with a flange. A clamp fits over the flange, and a bolt pulls it tight to the intake. The fitting and clamp itself are cheap. You only need the fitting if that'* where your leak is. You really need to clean the baby off, dry it, then watch with a flashlight and mirror for the leak/pooling coolant to narrow it down.
