HELP!!!! Removing CV axle...
So I am trying to remove the front right axle, The last piece (according to the service manual) should just slide off. If it doesn't pry off, it says to use a pry bar to nodge it a bit. Something about a internal snap ring that mught need a little more to help get it off.

Well, I've pry'd with all my might, different bars from different angles, but it doesn't budge at all. Any ideas?

remove the center spindle nut on the out side of the wheel, apply penetrant and rap on
the shaft with a brass hammer and it should slide right out. Auto Zone also has a loaner
tool to push this shaft out.
I'm curious as to why you would take the shaft apart while still on the car?

I replaced the axle on a '93 using a pry bar to pop it out. It didn't take all that much effort, other than I was a bit apprehensive about just how much force to use. It took just a moderate amount, although it was a good sized pry bar that I used. Why yours wants to be subborn, I don't know.

This is a Concorde (I know, I know, but I was looking for quick help from the resident gearheads and thought this would be easier for them to find).
I got the axle out of the spindle without any problems. What had happened is that the bolt holding on the lower control arm fell out which allowed the arm to drop and the wheel to pull the inner CV joint in half. The part in that pic seems to be stuck on. I have scoured the web and there is no aditional information other than apply light to moderate preassure with a pry bar if it is stuborn. With both me and my roommate trying full strength with pry bars it wouldn't ever budge. This is the ONLY thing holding us back from fixing this car.

A few days ago while discussing changing axles someone told me that on at least some Chrysler products there is a retaining pin on the side of the transmission case adjacent to the axle and that you either push or pull it to allow the axle to slide out.I have no personal experience with this but it may be useful info.Also might consider calling Chrysler dealer service dept and ask to speak to a mechanic who should be able to tell you.I've done this for various cars I've owned and they were always glad to help out.

Alright, Just had another friend stop by for a while who has done axles before. We ended up bending a new craftsman pry bar trying to get it off. I called my trusted shop and talked with them for a few minutes. They had nothing very favorable to say. Something along the lines of it the CV part is heat welded onto the axle at all, it may require things up to rebuilding the tranny to fix it. This is not an option for my friend. Money is way too tight.
The other option we are vaguely considering is to just reassemble the new bearings and axle into the old CV case at that end of the shaft. Then we wouldn't need to remove it. Not the best solution though. :?
Good thought helikon. I will call a Chysler dealer in the morning to see if they have any tricks that might work.
