Default Oil Pressure Gage

94 Bonneville SE

My Gage stays a little below the 40 mark all the time, and sometimes goes a little farther.
But it never gets to the red mark

What is the normal place for the Gage to be on my car, I really hope I don’t have an oil pressure problem, but if so, any ideas?

20lbs is about average for idle when warmed up
40lbs is about average for 1,500-2,000 rpms.

If the oil was changed recently you might see slightly higher readings and if you are due for a change it might be slightly lower.

20 at idle, Bill? My gauge shows just under 40 at idle when warm and it goes up maybe 55 at freeway speeds. (2200 rpm)

Both of my cars show 40 at warm idle, but I do agree that Bandit has nothing to worry about.

Bandit, please put your year and trim level in your signature.

Same here, 40 at warm Idle and the Next largest hash mark (75-80) anytime my foot is on the gas, but untill the car warms up the gague stays at the 75-80 range

Your pressure is not normal...you may want to check pressure with a mechanical gauge
