Really Low Oil Pressure and Overheating
but why!!!???
I just got done changing both trans cooler lines and valve cover gaskets. Still runs at that temp or above and at WOT never gets near the halfway for the oil pressure.

Jesus... That'* low pressure. Get a mechanical guage on there.
You know... Melling makes replacement oil pumps, You could do the timing chain while you're in there too.

I agree get a mechanical gage on that car and see if the Pressure gage on the dash is telling the truth....
And at 240F things are cooking pretty good in there..... Thats toooo hot

Absent the overheating, I'd say the gauge was faulty. Concur with getting a mechanical gauge on there to see if it'* accurate.
If it is, you've all ready toasted the bottom end, and possibly the entire engine. Is it making any "no oil" noises-clicking, like that?
I'd pull the pan and see if the oil inlet is clogged. Oil pumps seldom fail.

My grandfather has a 1995 bonneville that has the same problem with oil pressure. The guage is in an identical position as yours when idling, but does go up some while accelerating. I suspected sludge blocking oil passages and poured 1/2 can of seafoam into the crank. It seems to have helped some, but I don't think it did much. Oil psi went up to about 30 or so. If i'm not mistaken, it should be at around 70, right? So, what can cause this. You all said that it is most likely not the oil pump, and I don't see how a worn out bottom end can cause low pressure. His car runs fine btw, no "low oil" noises, no knocking or anything. It has about 120,000 miles on the engine, but it does burn quite a bit of oil.

i think 70 is a bit high actually, we are talking about idle right? i know once mine gets warmed up the oil pressure settles down to about 40 at idle, and i think thats where it supposed to be
