Swapping out motor to a Monte Motor, couple ???*
Im currently swapping the motor out of my 96 bonneville and putting in an engine from a 00 Monte SS. Does anyone know what the horse power rating is on the 00 Monte SS 3.8 Series II is? Just curious how much more power I'll be seeing. Also, are the UIM on the 00 3.8s prone to melting like the earlier ones? Should I swap over my Dorman? I checked the tag on the intake and it says DELPHI. Can I use the throttle body on the 00 monte motor? Last question, is it possible to put the motor and trans in at the same time or should I put trans in first? Any info would be appreciated.

The motors should be identical. Transmission and PCM is different.
You will be seeing the same power as your 96 SE......
I'd do the motor and trans if you had the chance, just remember they MAY be wiring differences as far as the harnesses go, however I'm completly unsure about the 96 year cars.
4t65e and 4t60e have different wiring setups I thought

I could only get the motor out of the car, I sent my trans out to be rebuilt. Had the converter serviced as well. Any recommendations on things I should do to the transmission while its out of the car? Thanks.

So the Monte has the L36 (normally aspirated)?
The throttle body will be missing a vacuum port compared to your '96 throttle body. Aside from the, it should be the same. I think you can run a "T" fitting off the single port on the '00 TB if you want to use it, but as far as I know the TBs should feed the same amount of air to the engine.
As long as you leave all your sensors, wiring harness, etc. in the '96 you should be fine. Swap every sensor and plug that you can from the '96 to the '00 so you know your transmission will communicate to the PCM without issues. The tranny in the '00 is the full electronic 4T65-E, while your '96 has the partial vacuum controlled 4T60-E. You need all the plugs/sensors from the '96 to make sure it all works.
I would also keep your exhaust manifolds from the '96, as W-body manifolds are known to be slightly different than H-bodies. You want this to be as painless as possible.

Some did and some didn't, Cheetah. I think the standard LS had the 3400, the standard SS had the L36, and you had the option of ordering an L67 in the SS model.

I saw that the throttle body had one vacuum port, i'll try it tho. I swapped over the rear exhaust manifold and the crossover, the front manifold fit fine so I left it. All the sensors looked the same except for the o2 sensor and the oil pressure sensor (which I broke anyways). Is it easy to put the motor and trans in at the same time? Thanks.

I would reuse your '96 throttle body if you can, just so you have all the vacuum ports you need.
The trans and motor are easy to put in at the same time. In fact, I don't know what other way you would do it unless you have a lift and plan on pulling them from below. If you're going in from the top, you bolt them together and then drop the engine/trans assembly in as one piece. I just finished swapping a new transmission into my car last weekend.
