Default charcoal canister

What exactly does the charcoal canister do? I know it'* got something to do with emissions but that'* it.

Is that the same as the Evap core? If it is I think it takes the fumes from the gas tank and recylces it. Not too sure about that though. :?

It pulls the fumes from the gas tank and injects them into the incoming air for the combustion cycle.

Is this really important? can i just take it out with no ill efects?(besides emissions)

You will have to relocate it. Let me guess, you are removing it to put some tubing in for even more cool air for your CAI? Damemorder did this, he used a mounting bracket from some other H body I believe. Removing the charcoal canister is bad, I may be wrong 90% of the time, but this is one of those 10% times.

Nope, not trying to relocate it. Just trying to remove as many unnecessary parts as possible. I'm probably gonna do the egr delete too so my intake runner porting work isn't all gunked up with carbon.

So anyone else have any reasons why it'* bad?

The only reason you should remove it is to make room for a FWI type intake.

Otherwise allmachtige used a T fitting in line and just removed it all together.
