Resident Gearhead Padgett has a site that shows how to REPLACE the Cam sensor/magnet if you find you are getting a code 41. Other than that I can't be much of a help to you. But there is a way to check for codes if you have car has OBD1 diagnostic port.

And you can read your codes using the Techinfo article here. 93 was the last year for the 'flash' trick.
If either sensor is bad, you will have a code, and an SES light to go with it.

If I recall the computer will throw a code if it is the cam sensor but if it is the crank I dont think there is a code for that. Correct me if I am wrong.
