Default Odd problem...

Okay, I'm driving, and I'm getting ready to turn unto a side ride off of one of the main drags around here. I'm turning, and, suddenly, I lose all power steering! Thank god noone was coming, I shudder to think of what would happen Anyways, I try to turn into a parking lot that was right there as the little car icon in my gauge cluster blinks "Check Gauges", when I realize that the car is no longer running, either! I wave the people behind me by, then I shift it into park and turn it off, then try to start it up, in order to get it in to the parking lot. It starts up just fine, I pull it in, check underneath for death leaks, and generally do as much as I can to assess the condition of the car with my limited mechanical knowledge. Nothing (that I could see) was wrong, and I went on my merry way. What the hell happened? Can anyone offer insight into this for me? Thanks in advance

Your engine stalled, and when you tried to turn the power steering was off with the motor.

Does it stumble at all?

your car is a 1992 is it not? Were you turning to the right or to the left. It makes a difference in our diagnosis. Were you also below 1/2 a tank of gas?

You should add your model and year to your sig. We all know about you looking for car, but nothing about what you actually drive. Maybe should have posted in the 92-99 forum, too.

Gotcha. Didn't I register mine in the registry, though? There'* a page I haven't been to in a while...

Anyways, no, I don't have a '92. I have a '93 SE. Oh yeah, and I'm between a 1/2 and 3/4 tank right now. Does that help or hurt the inquiry?

no usually it is O-1/3 tank going around a right turn. it might kill the motor if your baffels are broken.

has your engine died before for no reason?

And, yes, I believe it has stalled, once before... not too sure, though...

And I'm actually right at half a tank. I looked before I went out again today, so that'* probably where it was at when it happened. Does the "Check Gauges" light have anything important to do with the diagnosis, though? I kind of slipped it in my original post, not sure if you guys saw it...

Thanks again to all for the help Thank God for the BC, hehe :P

are you able to get it to stall turning if you tried? usually if you can figure out when its doing it and what the circumstances are, your problem is just about fixed. or so we hope.

Nope. I take turns like an Indy car driver all the time, and this is the first time this particular thing has happened to me, possibly the twice time. And I didn't even take the turn that hard, compared to some I've taken. Of course, I've taken some corners pretty damn hard, hehe :P

...So, no consensus yet on what it'* most likely to be? I don't want my power steering going out in a turn again, so I hope we can come up with something :? But thanks for the help thus far, regardless
