Default Bottom end of engine

I was wondering if the bottom end of the 92-94 NA engine would work on a 93 SC engine? am trying to locate the bottom end of one of a SC engine with under 100k, but found one close that is NA and was wondering if it would work.

Also, did any other GM models come with the L67 that would work with a 93 L67?

It might work but i would not do it. reason being is that the L67 motor was built by gm to handle the extra hoursepower that the supercharger throws at it. so the L27 will definately have a weaker bottom end than the L67. i know your search is tough but you need to keep lookin, youll find somethin, try ebay too

I'm not going to suggest you try it either, as it hasen't been done, but my research so far points to the bottom end being the same.

I honestly don't know anything about the bottom ends.

But...I've had some great success with a particular company for engines and trannies. Give LKQ a call. You can find the nearest one to you by going to their website:

Don't do it. There are conflicting stories on this. Another viewpoint is a side by side comparison of the L67 and L27 at a Pontiac Dealership parts department. MANY parts in the bottom end showed different.

You know who did it We discussed this a couple weeks ago in your own damn apartment, nimrod.

Until someone Rips them apart piece by piece, we're going to just have to form opinions on the best information we have. You've read that they're the same, others have read or seen other sources saying that they're not.

One of these days.......

Hmm..I'm a dummy so I don't remember what you said the differences where. You said "MANY parts in the bottom end showed different" so remind me please, if they've been looked at aparently it will save me a lot of homework.

I think it'd be nice to compare notes on the issue. I've seen GM stating the benefits of their new hot-forged rods as being superior to the "cast" ones of "previous years." Thats a little open to interpretation but take it for what its worth...Once a long time ago I got into a debate with a "member" and managed to find GM directly stating the makeup as being cast for both pistons and rods. This was during my little "down time" and I no longer have the link but I'll see if the other person does. I have many other bits also...This would mean to me that seeing as the other factors are the same, bore-stroke-ect, and they're both the same makeup, maybe they aren't so far off....Like I said though, nobody should do it but if someone has some info maybe we can swap and see where we come out.

I've got some 93 L27 rods/pistons lying around if anyone wants a look-see.

Maybe we could have them tested to fail? and compared?

That and some nasty rod bearings.

Yeah... I thought the bottom ends were different, but my father (who has the car at the moment) was wondering if it would work. The mechanic told him he can get the bottom end for $500 and install it for $250. Is this a good deal? Also, are the 92-95 L67 bottom ends the same?

On a side note, I might be able to get a 92 SSE for cheap because I need the body panels. If I do, I might try tearing the engine down and i can take photos of each piece if this could help. I know it wouldn't be side by side...
