Default New member, long time Bonny fan with a HVAC problem

Hi Guys from a new member and an old time Bonny fan. I am on my 3rd Bonny. The first was a '92 LE with OK service. The next was a '95 LE (green with gold rims) that I sold with 265K miles. Due to my size I did not buy a 2000 Bonny but bought an Impala... what a mistake. Found a '96 LE with 90K miles and bought it 2 months ago. This is my first used Bonny and I think I am dealing with several problems due to the car not moving much. My goal with this car is to make it last for at least 300K miles. As you may have guessed I am a road worrior.

I have done a tune up (wires, plugs, gas, oil, air filters). I gutted the air box, enlarged the intake hole and cut a little of the sheet metal for more air flow. I also added a 180 stat.

The most important problem is the blower fan no longer comes on. The auto temp tells the fan to run but the fan doesent listen. Tonight I am going to check the ground wire down by the right horn. I have tried to look for codes but could not figure it out (I think the instructions I got was for a '92). So if anyone has any advice I am wide open.

Welcome to the club!

Check for voltage at the purple wire at the blower motor harness. It should read battery voltage with the fan set to HI but less on the lower settings. While you're at it, you can test the ground wire (black). If this tests good then it seems that your fan is no good. If you have no voltage at the purple wire then check fuse 3 in the RH underhood fuse box. If that'* fine then you can test the gray wire at the Blower Control Module. This should show a variable voltage from 2 (LO) to 8 (HI) volts from the HVAC programmer.

Default Problem fixed

Followed suggestions and all was OK. Hit the fan motor and it started up. Looks like I need a new fan.

Thanks for your help randman1.
