Tensioner pulley alone or the whole assembly?

Tensioner pulley alone or the whole assembly?
Hey folks, I'm using the search feature even now to research my problem in hopes that I can find my solution.
In the meantime:
Having a rattling noise that goes away on A/C activation. Figured out that the noise is coming from the tensioner pulley. If I add tension to the system with a breaker bar, the noise goes away.
I'm getting ready to go buy parts to do this job myself. I'm planning on replacing the belt, as well, naturally.
My question is - will replacing the pulley alone likely solve this, or do I need to replace the entire assembly?

If adding tension solved the problem, replacing the pulley will do as much for you as a a new tailpipe for that problem.
Don't rule out an AC clutch issue though.
