Pull codes using the procedure in Techinfo. All you need is a paperclip. Let us know what you find.

When was your last tranny service? You may be due for a full system flush.

Well, if you shut it down and it acts normal, then its probably a computer malfunction.

How hot was your car running?

I was driving a 92 sse once after having it looked at by my mechanic. Whole thing was crap, but when it got hot (over 200*) the tranny started slipping. It would accelerate to about 3000rpm in gear, then the car would hold that speed. The RPMS would waiver, and then go up, but the car would continue going the same speed. At one point I couldn't go above 30, which is good because on I-494 we weren't going faster then 30. I got a good half hour look at an old Malibu ss

I pulled over, let it cool, and it actually shifted and was transmissioning like it should So I finished taking it back to the owners. I told them what happened, and drove my family'* camry home.
