Lube em.
Try mixing 90w gear oil with lithium grease but do it with the wheels turned all the way to the right.
I'm a happy camper as mine steers like a dream now. I just lube them once a year like you would a door hinge.
Dirt and salt from the Northest gets in and makes them stick.

mine use to Nock/creek really loud just buy turning or little bumps and i just put some Marvils Mistery oil down the covers and it stoped. but i stil get a nock over big bumps and holes in the road, so i know my struts are shot...
