strange steering issue
Hey folks -
I've got a 97 sse 160k, that has developed a slight steering issue: If I am going in a straight line at a slow speed (10-40) mph, when I make a slight steering correction, I can feel a pulse in the steering wheel - that is, the steering wheel will not move smoothly, it will almost imperceptably oscillate when I make a slight turn.
I am suspecting a cv axle, wheel bearing, or power steering system issue. Whaddya all think?
It has new pads, rotors, and calipers, tires are balanced.
Thanks in advance,
Warthog

Jack up both front wheels off the ground, grab a tire at the 9 and 3 o'clock position and try to move it side to side. Do it again at the 12 and 6 o'clock position. This should tell you if your bearings are gone. While its up, give those driveshafts a good yank too.

I'd start with a bad belt in a tire. At low speeds balance can't be felt.
Switch tire front to back and see if the movement changes to a wiggle in your seat. Also listen to the tires driving along a building or a curb with your window down. Then have someone drive while you listen on the passenger side. See if you hear an uneveness in the tread sound.
