Default Programming A Factory Remote

Can anyone enlighten me on how to program a factory remote for a 1997 Bonneville Se. My son purchased a new remote on E-bay and the instruction shows that there is suppose to be certain connectors in the computer port to use jumper wires, but the ones I am suppose to use are not there. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
