Default NO PEDAL SPEED

hello folks am having problems when i press my gas pedal, sometimes the speed goes up to 30 mph and stays while the rpm keeps rising.then for me to reduce back down the rpm'* i have to take my foot of the pedal.Along with this am getting a whirling noise from the car am not sure if its from the engine or the muffler but it increaases on acceleration. Then later the car drives okay then goes back doing the same thing.took it to three tranmission specialist and they say its not the tranny, could it be a bad sensor. THIS CAR STILL CARRIES ITS ORIGINAL MUFFLER AND CATALYIC converter at 139000. .PLEASE HELP

Check the tranny fluid. Sounds like it'* not shifting into second.

Anytime a condition seems to happen dependant on speed, The first place you should look is the tranny. Especcially when it'* at 30mph, The lowest your car can shift to second.

Lack of fluid pressure. Could be many things, first thing to check is the fluid level. If that checks out, check the vacuum lines, pull one of them [best bet is the one for the vacuum modulator], and make sure it doesn't have fluid sitting in there. And make sure the vacuum lines are in good shape, and aren't cracked or deteriorating. If they are, replace them. If you see fluid in the vacuum line, the vacuum modulator is shot, and must be replaced.
