Allright just went out and pulled the codes...I got a 40 code and a 152 code.

And the heat has returned all the sudden also...I turned the def. on and it started blowing warm air after a bit and turned the heat on and it works as befroe but the temp still blinks for a couple min but I did not clear the codes yet so I aasume that stop when I clear them.

Now you see why I told you to check the codes.

Your airmix may be fine now that it'* been through a calibration or power-cycle procedure.

Go ahead and clear the codes, and your display SHOULD stop flashing the temperature IF the airmix actuator has recovered it'* home position.

You should be all set.

That'* my opinion though.

Mine worked fine for quite some time between battery disconnects using the "if I ignore it, eventually it will go away" technique of troubleshooting the blinking ECC display. Methinks there is an airmix actuator replacement in your future, however. Might be several months even. Hopefully yours will hold out until the weather is more conducive to working on your car. In any case, don't be too shocked if it acts up on you sometime in the future - you know what to expect now!

I was thinking about your trunk deal. On the trunk lip is a switch (left side). Make sure it is in the OFF position. then your trunk switch on drivers door will work.

Well even though I have cleared the codes the temp display continues to flash at every startup ...and if I do not turn the defroster on 1st the heater blows cold ... :?

I'd be on the trunk switch. One of the things I dislike about my S2 is that darn trunk switch. I don't remember the 95 and earlier having it.
