no heat after reconnecting battery

The actuator is moving the door because when the display starts flashing and the actuator goes all the way to the right ( with motor hot ) the air gets very cold, toward the end of display flash the actuator moves back to the right and air warms back up, that means the gear and actuator are intact, I am just using the screwdriver to move it another quarter inch to get full heat. Any idea on how to get the display to quit the learn process on startup? What if I disconnect the battery again and start all over and force that actuator rod all the way to the right each time after it'* gone all the way to the left and back to the right? I swear this is the most screwed up design or I am not understanding what it'* trying to do!

I was searching for the old trailnuts article. I don't know why, but I found it at trialnuts.com now.

I tried this several differnt ways, OAT disconnected, start car with ECC on ( the display starts flashing immediately), run 5 minutes, turn off and reconnect OAT, start car and same ole flashing after minute after start, turn off, restart, same ole same ole.. Tried disconnecting OAT, ECC off and run for 5 minutes, once again the display starts flashing even though the ECC is off. Turned off and reconnected OAT and still same symptoms after about a minute. Flashing display. I am wondering if I should disconnect the battery and try and reset the whole system and start from scratch and try this trick. Has it worked for anyone else? Thanks for your input.

Good stuff guys!... I just bought this car and I'm suspecting the dealership that took it in on trade disconnected the battery because it has been flashing the outside temp every time I've started the car since. My inside temperature has always been marginally warm (with one exception when it actually got hot) but after reading all through this post, and another by Scorpion44, I think I can fix this problem. In fact, this is the problem that allowed me to get the car for so cheap so I hope this is the fix. Will post back here once I've had time to work on it. (I commute 3 hours to work so it gets MIGHTY cold!!)
