:?: Hmmmmmmmmmmm i live in a mountainous aera here .never ever han a problem with gear hunting................with the old tranny with the 2.69 ratio climb hills all day in D with out a problem.the new tranny with 3.79`* chews the hills ran her upto 6500 rpm in D not a hiccup...even at normal driving ( that`* when my pretty wife is with me ) the Bonnie doesn`t hunt gears.have no idea why your`* does it

Elevations of 3000 feet and 4000 feet are high??? Ha !
Try living at 6200 feet and regularly going over 8000 feet. I'd have to drive 100 miles or more to get below 4000 feet. . My '96 Olds LS with the Series 2 N/A engine handles all this fine with a minimum of hunting. On long pulls up passes I usually pull it down into 3rd, but I haven't experienced what Chris is experiencing. Something suggested in these posts must be causing the problem.
