Before you replace the pump itself, take boosty'* advice and check the air lines for cracks. a crack could also let air out and make the pump run all the time. I would suspect that if the pump is on all of the time while driving, then the compression of your struts is forcing the air out of somehwere, possibly the line itself.

Check those out and let us know what you find.

i was thinking the lines might be the culpit but i did find a leak at the motor where the plastic black tube fits into the metal motor. It is held together by a metal crimp. I sprayed soapy water onto the motor and bubble popped up

I suggested checking the entire system, not just the lines. I personally found a compressor that was not holding air aka check valve and internal to the compressor being bad.

No amounts of soapy water helped that one. A pressure gauge did.

If the lines are good, drop the pump (if it is not loud and noisy like my old one), pull off the head of the pump; clean, re-oil it then re-assemble.

If your pump runs non-stop, you'll kill it.

Actually on the 96-99 the disassembling may or may not be possible. I broken 3 bolts attempting to service my old one due to rust and corrosion. Silly GM putting them under the car like that.

I disassembled the one you sent me and re-oiled it. But that one was in decent shape too, though

I was messing around tonite with the air compressor and I notice that instead of running constantly like i said before it will start every 2-4 mintues and will run for about 45 sec to 1 min I did try the soap test on the struts and the visible line the connects to them no signs of bubbles.

I did a checklist of possible problems with my air compressor leaking I need some help troubleshooting these problems.

1. I check the struts with soapy water for leaks ~ NO LEAKS
2. I checked the strut air line and ( What i found find) the air lines under the car ~ NO LEAKS
3. I checked the air compressor itself. Cleaned as much as possible the motor head and replaced the oring and lubed. ~ No Leaks

The compressor will not turn off. It will run excessively even while driving it is still running. what are my solutions? should I replace the compressor motor?

Unplug the height sensor and see what happens.
