Default Check Engine light came on!!! Think it'* a UIM prob... HELP!

Well I pull out of work today and it was acting like the tranny was slipping, running bad and didn't really want to move all at the same time. I figured it was cold and the tranny didn't warm up yet(It'* been slipping a very very little bit going into 2nd when its just started up)

Anyway the light didn't come on till the engine started sputtering.

I have no coolant and I just filled it with coolant on Saturday(when I changed the oil) and water yesturday. I think I might have a leak into the engine somewhere and I'm getting water into it.

Is it time for a new manifold and gasket set already? I just turn over 89K miles

If I do.. could someone please give me every part # I'm gonna need and not tell me look in the TechInfo. I looked and it just confused me more.

I know that if I have to do it I want to get the APN kit, but am I going to need anything else?

HELP!!!!!! Mike

I don't care if you say you don't want this, but you need to read this. The part numbers are in it.

Ok last Saturday when I changed the oil it was fine, but the coolant was nowhere to be found. I filled the radiatior with coolant and the rest of the bottle went into the overflow tank. I went to check it again a couple days later and there was none in it again. I filled it with straight water this time. Now I had this bad running problem and went to check the coolant, you guessed it NOTHING. I checked my oil and it looks watery and is very high on the dipstick. So I'm gonna drain it and put new oil in it.

I'm gonna order the UIM from APN
I think I need to get a metal LIM gasket. Thats a dealer only thing right?

What else do I need?

If you are losing coolant that fast, you need to drain the oil and leave it out until you get it fixed. You're gonna hydrolock your engine and throw a rod for sure if it'* losing coolant that fast.

Read the Techinfo article 38 that was linked above.

You'll need some Blue thread locker, some RTV gasket sealer as well.

I'd also suggest dropping your oil pan and cleaning it out completely and check the crank while it'* off for contamination. You'll want a new oil pan gasket then.

Speaking of manifolds, I took my car in yesterday to Meinke. My SES light came on a few days ago. First time that light has illuminated since I have had the car. Last week when i would put the car in Park the enging rpm would surge between 200-300 rpms. Jrs3800 suggested I check the vacumn hose for a possible vacumn leak. He put a scan tool on it and it did reveal a leak. They replaced a transmission mount that was cracked and was going to replace the exhaust gasket when he found a small crack in the manifold. He said is was a $600.00 part from the dealership. He was going to look around to see if he could find a better price. I think it is time for me to trade this one off. there are some newer Bonnevilles in the Charlotte area that i am going to look at next week.
