bad news for my bonnie today.
well it all started a long long time ago in a far far away place!!!
well anyways under the hood of my car was making some weriod noises and i wasnt realy to sure what it was. temp gauge stayed the same. volts meter didnt budge so i realy had no clue so i just drove home. well it started to get louder and louder. and then i heard a loud thump! look in the rearveiw and theres a huge cloud of smoke. then about 15 ft more and i had to turn and then i noticed i didnt have any power steering. first thing i checked was volt meter and its right at the top of the red warning place now so i shut my inside lights off and just use norm driving lights good thing ive only got like 5 blocks to go but man that car is a pain in the u know what to turn w/out power steering. when i get home i look under the hood and go figure theres no belt any more and my altanator if froze stiff. it just wont budge. autozone wants $105 for altanator and $20 for belt. it just sucks. i had to talk about this to someone who will listen cause the girl all she had to say was "so i take it you will need a ride to work till friday then huh??"
is that to expensive for them parts or is it a good price 4 life time warrenty? 93 se

GM list price for a remanufactured version is 220 and I dont think that has a lifetime warranty.

go for it. my bearings were starting to go... hadn't quite let out yet. it almost stalled my car while sitting at a light. no fun, no fun.
luckily, the alts on these cars are easy to replace. not as easy as my 92 cougar had been - that had 2 bolts holding it on, and you only had to fiddle with the tensioner to get it all done. 15 minute job on that car.
not that it takes too much longer on these. just make sure you know your belt routing, because that can be frustrating...
<edit - belt routing...>

How bad is it to drive without a belt? When my power steering pumps pulley was wobbly the belt fell off and when my dad put it in drive the car just stalled out. That same day I also ran it for like 30 seconds without a belt forgetting that I had just taken it off but that was before the first thing. I doubt anything bad happened I just want to make sure.
