Default New member... My problems...

Hello my names Josh and i have a 93 SSE thats giving me all sorts of hell.

First things first i pulled thiese codes from the SES paperclip trick:
21, 34, 41, and 58

I know one is mass airflow sensor. i do not know about the others. is there a temp fix for the MAS? its stalling out after a while... i have to two foot it the rest of the way...

also the fuel gauge dosent work it is all screwy... any tips or past experience on this?

lets see theres a short somewhere to the computer that causes the Driver information to click off and on every once in a while... any common places to check for this?

also my ABS light under the SES light comes on after i press the breaks a fiew times... will go verafy this tomorrow....

also in the DI center. it says lamp out in the tail... i will check each for corrosion tomorrow and also check the joint where the trunk closes and the liscense plate. i was in the trunk today and it turned off.. so im assuming a short possibly or something. it came back on after i restarted the car.

Oh and thanks in advance for any help that yall give. ill take some pictures when i get a camera.

Hello Josh and welcome,
There are alot of good people on this web site. If your looking for answers someone on here will have it. My Alldata says this for your codes.

21= Throttle position sensor circuit
34= Mass Air flow
41= Crank/cam sensor circuit
58= Someone told me on here that it has to do with the Vats system. Try cleaning the chip on your ignition key with alcohol.

I would reset the computer then recheck the codes, just in case.

Good luck,
Sellncars

can you give a better description? does it work at all? where is stuck at?

the connection in the back of the instrument panel is usually the case...take out the dash and clean the contacts

also my ABS light under the SES light comes on after i press the breaks a fiew times... will go verafy this tomorrow....
press hard or just normal braking?

also in the DI center. it says lamp out in the tail
check ALL possible connections, including 3rd brake light and license plate bulbs

and also check the joint where the trunk closes and the liscense plate. i was in the trunk today and it turned off.. so im assuming a short possibly or something. it came back on after i restarted the car.
no idea what ur talking about

21= Throttle position sensor circuit
can anyone go into detail on this? what is it. and how can i fix it for as cheap as possible. would this be causing the stalling? or is it the MAF and this... so lost

34= Mass Air flow
Any common problems with this temp fixes....

41= Crank/cam sensor circuit

I have NO idea what this is at all... so im taking any suggestions on it

Im used to GM and (cough) Hondas...(cough) so any help would be appreciated

One thing that you should make sure is that the MAF sensor wires are well away from the spark plug wires (they are high voltage and affect the MAF reading). I was having all kinds of trouble about a year ago with the computer throwing MAF code and TPS code. Even after changing both, I had codes, but when I hung the MAF wires away from plug wires, the codes went away (no problem since).

In regards to your fuel guage issue...

Sounds like it'* the fuel sending unit. It'* integrated into the pump. Getting the issue resolved would include dropping the tank and replacing the pump. My 99 does it too...I just deal with it (set the trip odometer so you know where you stand).

I believe for your car, a Code 41 is for the cam sensor circuit. The cam sensor is located near the 7 or 8 o'clock position of the water pump pulley. The pickup sits in a 1" hole in the timing cover secured by a small bolt with a 10mm head. The pickup senses the passage of a little magnet that is installed in a gear on the end of the camshaft. A code 41 can be set by broken, corroded or disconnected wiring, a bad pickup (sensor), or a missing or damaged interrupter magnet.

[edit] A good place to start with this stuff would be to buy a Chilton'* 28200 covering GM H-bodies (including your car) for $15 or $20 at your local auto parts house. It will answer a lot of your questions and if you can master the information, can save you many, many dollars.
