ELC Compressor relocate
I was curious. Has anyone attempted relocating the ELC compressor on the 92-95 into the trunk? Its taking up valuable engine bay space.

The 97 donor had the compressor factory located behind the right rear wheel so it'* very possible. The wires travel through the same grommet that the fuel tank harness does so it would be tough to run the wires out there. You'd probably have to drill another hole either next to that grommet or better yet in the trunk under the jack box and find a nice way to seal it up.
Wiring could be spliced before they exit the firewall, extended to the rear, and connected to the rear mounted compressor. I don't know if you could use your existing compressor and just use a 96(?)-99 mounting bracket or not. I'd have to check the compressor I have here and compare to yours.

It'* in my shed and there is another lake in front of it (no ducks this time though). If I can find my parts list, I can compare the part numbers. This will probably be more accurate anyway. Let me see if I can't dig up the part numbers.

If you relocate it to the trunk, I'd try to attach it behind the rear seat near the selector valve. Keep it all in one place. Use rubber grommets between the bracket and whatever you mount it to.

I can hear Bill'* quite easily when it'* running more than I could hear the one in my 93. Being inside the car, don't you think that would get annoying pretty quickly?

If the rear struts are good, it shouldn't run much.
92/93 run even with the ignition off, whenever they need to.
94/95 (and later years) run only after key on (and after a 30-45 second delay) and should be good for the trip from there. With good struts, and no load changes in the back, a good ELC system should only run once a week or so. That'* about how often mine run (I know this on the 95, and assume so on the 93, as with that car, I only 'catch' it running about once a month).
