Default Keys Ignition

Today I went to turn my car off and the ignition was stuck in the on, I pushed it somewhat forward as if I wasa going to start it, and then it would turn off, any ideas. Do I need to replace it, and how hard is it???

Check the gearshift position and ensure it is fully in park for key release.

The ignition is not fun from what I've heard.
