Default oil leak 1995 Bonneville ssei

I recently bought a 95 Bonneville ssei and have discovered an oil leak. I found out it was coming from one corner of the oil pump area. I was hoping it was the sender but it according to a mechanic was the gasket on the pump. Maybe pump isn't the right term, its the housing the filter and sender are attached to. I did replace the gasket, but it still leaks. It drips from the corner closest to the block. Its hard to see where else it may be coming from. I cleaned everything off real well and made sure all the old gasket was cleaned off. Any suggestions of where to look?
Thanks
Larry

Welcome to Bonneville Club! The most common source for oil leaks in the area of the oil filter adapter is the oil pressure sending unit. They are fragile and often seep a little bit of oil before they fail completely. Some other common sources of leaks that may drip off that corner are the valve cover gaskets, or the side rail seals on the lower intake manifold. You will just have to clean the area well and watch it carefully. One trick is to dust the area with a light colored powder like flour, to help reveal the source of the leak.

Where in Iowa are you located?

Bill,
Thanks. I dusted baby powder in the area and still have a hard time finding where its from. I know its not the sender or the valve covers. Maybe the gasket just didn't seal for some reason. If I get time I may pull the housing back off and try it again.

I'm from the Manson area west of Fort Dodge.

Thanks again.
Larry
