Thermostat Replacement Question
I have 2 questions if I may:
1. Do you ever use adhesive between the paper gasket? There is no mention of it in the search, but I thought I would ask anyway.
2.In the thermostat mod, I have read that you (a) dill one 1/16 hole at one end, (b) drill 1/16 hole at each end (c) dill 1/8 hole at one end (d) drill 1/8 hole at each end. With my knowledge of moving around on a pc, it would take me longer to get the proper way than to actually drill out the holes. What are your thoughts........thanks. Oh and yes I picked up a 180 stat although they were sold out of the regular so I ended up going with the fail safe since I couldn't justify added price of gas and time to go to another store.

2. Two 1/8 holes might actually affect the cooling, causing a noticeable increase in the time required for the thermostat to reach its opening temperature. I think the most important reason to run a drilled 'stat is to provide an air bleed to facilitate the movement of air out of the lower intake manifold. I make sure that the hole or one of the holes is at the 12:00 O'Clock position for that reason. In the winter-time you might want smaller or fewer holes, as the engine will take longer to warm up with bigger or more holes. I think I drilled two 1/16 holes in mine.
