I had a similar problem. Check your water pump for bearing play.
With the engine off, get someone to give you a hand to hold the tensioner back to release the pressure on the belt and Water Pump pulley. Grab the Water Pump pulley with your hand and see if you can shake it up and down, left to right see how loose the bearing is and how much play there is.
If it moves very much then you need to replace the water pump before it springs a leak.
Shreading belts could be other things but, play in the pulley are signs that the water pump is going to fail and could be what is causing your belts to shread.
Good Luck,
Dutch

Oh I thought you replaced the SC belt idler tensioner. If you didn't, that could be the problem.
Don't bother, John, shipping them would cost more than they are worth. I'll get them next year.
lol, i'll ship up the ice packs later this month if you don't need them right away...
