1995 SSEi starter
went to start my car today and nothing happened..llights all workedl ike they nornmally do...but when i cranked...it'* like it wasn't even hooked up...so i tapped my starter a few times and then it worked....i know i should replace it.,.,but this is just a winter car and im wondering if this will happen again or if it was possibly just because of teh moist humid morning i have here in illinois today.

so basically i need to change my starter..no big deal. during the summer i had a buick le sabre. this LOOKED similar to my bonneville...as far as the starter location and components go. and this looked like it wasn't the 'easiest' job to do. is the bonneville the same set-up as the lesabre was? has anybody ever changed the starter? like; am i going to have to be moving or taking off any MAJOR components? or is it basically just a straight shot and take the starter down with no problems in my way?

Remove the splash shield that'* attached to the front crossmember under the front of the car. Most of the fasteners will be 10mm.
Remove the negative battery cable and push it away so it can't touch the battery.
Remove the plastic cover (*) from the bottom of the bell housing and up around the starter (More 10mm bolts - wiggle and twist to get it out)
Unbolt the electrical connectors on the starter
Remove the two vertical bolts that hold the starter up (15 mm?)
Drop the starter out (May have to twist and turn a bit.)
Make careful note of any shims
Clean the area where the starter contacts the engine/bellhousing
Install the new starter with the same thickness of shims you removed.
Re-do the electrical connections.
If the starter binds, or makes a loud noise, add shims until normal.
