Default possible ignition problem or wiring...¿

my car has this problem...sometimes it happens...then sometimes it doesn't...well sometimes i can put the key in and turn it...everything comes on but the starter doesnt turn....its just like nothing...and i turn it off...then try it again...nothing....then i turn it off...try again...and sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt...it sometimes takes 2 times turning it off and on to get it to start and sometimes its 10....does anyone have this problem and does anyone knwo what it may be...

i noticed it did it a lot a long time ago...so i got a new battery...it didnt do it for a while...and my battery was still charged because i have a bat indicator in my car and it was bright green...so i have no clue hwy it does that...could it be a loose wire somewhere or something...?

Do you have a microchip in your key? Are you getting a security light when you try to start it?

Um, we need a little more help than that...

You do have a resistor pellet in your key, but we need to know, when the car refuses to crank over, whether you're seeing your yellow Security light come on and stay on (even after you release the key). Do you?

If so, the VATS anti-theft system is triggering, possibly because your key is dirty or worn and it'* not making a proper electrical contact through that little resistor pellet when you put the key in the ignition.

If not, and everything looks normal otherwise on your dash, then it sounds like you may have dirty, loose or corroded battery cables, or a starter solenoid that'* on its way out. I'd start by removing the battery cables and thoroughly cleaning the terminals (including prying the battery terminal bolts out of the cable ends, and cleaning the contact rings underneath).
