After doing some searching/calling around, I was able to find a good deal. This place near me has about 30 engines for my car and several under 25k miles. I'm looking at one w/ 17k from a 97 buick, one w/ 19k from a 98 buick, and one w/ 23k also from a 98 buick. All cost $850. This place also installs them for $650. Best of all they have a 100 day parts/labor warranty. $1500 is damn good. I planned on spending that much this summer on mods so if i can borrow some money from the parents, they'll be paid off by the fall plus i'll have all of my insurance money covered for a year from june (summer internships are nice)

I also was looking around for a l67 but couldn't find any in my area past a 95 so it wouldn't be a series 2, not to mention the miles on the ones i did find. :?

Man, i'm pretty happy about this one. Still a little pised that i can't do any modding but having an engine that has 80k less miles on it is good for a few ponys right? And i get to keep my bonnie good as new w/ a new engine and tranny plus everything else i replaced over the years.

It a good thing i didn't rush into anything yet. Today i got another estimate on a rebuild $2100!!! that'* much better than the other two estimates plus it come w/ a one year warranty. I was real close to getting a 17k miles engine installed for 1500 which came w/ a 100day warranty but looks like i'm going for the rebuild. $600 more is worth the 1 year warranty

Does anyone know if it costs much more to bore out the cylinders a little more when they do the rebuild? Also, does the computer make up for the increased cyilnder volume all by it'* self, or is the volume made the same by increasing the rod length or piston height?

Those prices sound pretty decent for low mileage engines. They'll probably last you longer than you'll want to keep the car.

Where abouts in PA did you find those engines for sale? I live in Central Bucks county and with 196,000 miles on the clock, with everything else in excellent shape, I may be interested in buying one down the road. Thanks for the info.

hey i'm a block inside philly near huningdon valley. I got those prices at http://www.als-auto.com/ they have well over 30 engines and many under 30k all for 850 or less for series 2 i did look for the sc engines for 1995(same as 94?) but they had some miles on those, you might want to consider getting a l36 engine and comp as an option, i think that the tranny would work, just a though, same hp but less tq.

W/ al'* i've talked to two people that have done work w/ them and checked out the better business bearu, the two people said they had no problems and the bbb only had one complaint that was resolved.

Hey! I'm from Levittown, and Hatboro before that... Used to get a lot of parts and goofy stuff from Lou'* in Willow Grove - never dealt with Al'*... they're right behind Neshaminy mall, right?

I'm considering replacing my transaxle (4T60-E) with a later 4T65-E from them (Al'*). Does anyone know if that would be a drop-in or am I lining up for some big headaches?

Please keep us posted if you have any dealings with them... a reputable wreckers is a great asset.

The only difference between them is that the 60 is controlled by vacuum and the 65 is electronic. You may have to replace your PCM when you do this. Lou'* is a good yard, as well.

My sister went to Wood! I think I saw the intersection at Street and York Roads every day that I lived there. I lived up behind what is now Warminster Square ( used to be Tudor Square). We used to hang back in what is now the golf course - drinking and smoking...the good ole days! I smell a road trip soon... a couple of peeps I know have been bugging me to come up anyway.
