Default Painting the engine covers

I'm not to impressed with the looks of the series 1 engine covers. Styling is ok but the color is a little bland, so I want to paint it. Would I be better off using a high temp engine paint or just regular spray paint? It doesn't get to hot to touch at all but since it is right next to th engine I thought I'd ask.

Any what color should I use? I got a black SSEi and I have opted for a blue color for wires (best contrast of colors I think) and will probably get blueish neon eventually too. Should I stick with the blue color for the cover or should I do something more nuetral like a black or silver (wannabe chrome)? I'm not looking for an entirely blue engine, but blue accents would be nice?

Any thoughts?

Take a look at my website, too. I used a hi-temp cast looking paint on the SC cover, then sanded the lettering off to stock. It actually looks like metal now, just darker than the original gray.

I just went out and bought some nice blue high temp paint and painted my covers. Looks better then stock. Still need to do the lettering yet though. Now I just need to clean up some other pieces and I'll be ready to go. I'll get pics in the next few days.

Thanx for your inout!

When I was at the parts store I looked for a chrome paint just to compare. They had no chrome engine paint and most of the silver was more of a gray in color.

I would use paint for headers . They hold up to the most heat . They've lasted 2 years on my other cars headers so they should stick on plastic for life . The cans are hard to find . , I got mine at

I got 2 pics here. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, last two. I still need to paint the lettering so it stands out more.
