It is possible to put a */C engine in your car, but you would also have to swap trans, drive shafts, wiring harness and PCM. Would be easier to just buy a new SSEi.

Engine swaps are pretty easy with the 3800'*. Just stick with the same engine and you should be good to go.

you are going to need a Engine out of a H body, or you better be prepared to swap all the accessories, Oil filter adapter, and possibly more from the old motor to the new motor

BUT if you want to do that any 3800 Series 2 will work for you

well if cheap is key

get a bone yard engine with lower miles
swap out the lower intake gaskets before you put it in and buy a new upper intake
and your good to goo
motor should cost 1000 or less when its all said and done( thats if you do the labor)

If you are going to rebuild one, budget at least $1500

The 3800 motor is not a cheap to rebuild motor. The gaskets, bearings, and rings will cost you close to $500.

A commercially remanufactured motor runs about $1200 for N/A to $1600 for SC in a long block form.

On a tight budget, a salvage yard motor from a wrecked H-Body is the cheapest route to replacing the motor.

Check the date on the intake manifold stamp

http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...e=article&k=38

and see if it'* the original same as the year f hte car. If it'* been replaced your only question would be did they do the lowe rintake manifold gasket wtih the new metal back GM version. Someone else can probably tell a place to look for the new edge or sealer to tell if the lower has been done or not...
