It'* Garb. Let him out.

I get something kinda similar, but when I start the car. I have no idea what it is. I know it'* not the power antenna.

Bet it is on his, though. After two replacements on my power antenna, I gave up and bought the manual one at the dealer. $28, better reception.

Unplug it and see if it goes away. Bet it does.

The noise you hear if the antenna is up and won't retract is the antenna motor trying to retract the mast.

Just unplug the damned thing and see if it goes away. It'* right underneath the antenna mast inside the trunk.

It will.

Has it been unplugged? Even if it is stuck up, the motor is likely still trying to put it up when you start, and down when you stop.

No it won't. The plug includes the power source for the antenna motor.

I should have worded that more clearly. If it is NOT unplugged, it will still try to raise and lower the antenna

Yes, and it will make exactly the sound he described as the mast motor hits the stop for up and down each time.

As I said above, the power antenna isn't worth a plugged nickel. I've been through one, and when the second one failed, just bought the manual one and installed it in 10 minutes.

$28 retail at the dealer, better reception.

It wasn't a hard decision.

For the '93 I bought one from JC Whitney but it required rewiring to have it work. I agree, the quick, easy and reliable long term fix is the standard antenna.
