Default 92 a/c problem no power to the clutch

I have a 92 Bonneville and its my wifes car and she is getting ticked that I can not get the air to work. I know the system leaked out of coolant so I bought the re-charge change over kit like I have done with other cars.
I can not get the a/c pump clutch to kick on. I bought a used pump put that in and that didn't do it. I then hooked 12 volts to the clutch coneector and I can get the clutch to kick on. So I know the clutch is good. I then checked for 12 volts at the plug and I am not getting any juice to the clutch. I checked the little fuse under the dash and it was good and I checked the big fuse on the fire wall and it was good. I then pulled the big 30 amp fuse on the fire wall and put my test light across where it plugs in I have no power there even with the car running and the air on. Do I have a bad relay? If it is a relay which one is it on the fire wall there are 5 relays there.
what can I do to trouble shoot this so I know what to buy so I can recharge her car

I think I checked that 30 amp fuse wrong I put the test light from one side to the other and I needed to go to ground and then check each side. let me check that and see where I am but I am still up for any sugestions

Chad, I'm hoping one of the AC experts will chime in soon, however if you have no freon in the system your a/c clutch will not engage. This is a fail safe for the system, to save the compressor.

I've watched my buddy mechanic Dan recharge my system after changing the compressor. He started the car and turned the ac on, compressor was not running. Then part way through adding freon the pressure switch saw the freon pressure increasing and turned on the compressor. Like I said..not sure about all the in'* and out'*. But the system had a couple of switches to keep if from running w/o freon.

Yes I have heard of this also and I have heard you can jumper the low pressure switch but I do not know which one it is. I tried a couple on the line switches but do not know which is which. I can not get it to take any r-134 at all so I need the compressor to kick on to pull in the coolant.

You're mixing 134 with R12? Huh?

Your car should have R12 in it.

Do not mix the two. R12 and 134A. This would be very bad.

well since I said I replaced the ac pump that would mean that the system was empty and purged of any r-12 and that is why it got the r-134a conversion.
