Stronger Engine/Trans' Mounts
Has anyone done it? If so how?
I was working on Ryan'* Bonne today and noticed that it would be quite easy to stiff up the Bonne'* Engine/Trans' mounts.
After looking at them for a few min. I came up with a few ideas.
On the engine mount if they look to be the way I think they are all you have to do is rotate the rubber insert 90* and you basically have a solid engine mount. You could do a custom rubber insert that would replace the OEM one for ~$20 but I feel that would cause too much vibration in the car since it is not isolated by the rubber cradle mounts.
On the front trans mount you have a little strut because the front trans mount is junk. It looks like it would be quite easy to fab up a solid 'strut' out of some 1" square stock and have a solid mount.
The rear dog bone just needs some custom rubber insert made up that would cost ~$20 and almost anyone could make them.

Dameorder (sp?) made a solid front trans mount with a hockey puck a while back.
An easy way to stiffen up the dogbone in the rear would be to cut out all the ruber, tape it off with the metal bolt guides centered and fill it in with some sort of polyurathane. A friend of mine used Flexane 94a. He got it at mcmaster.com (search flexane, its under 2 part casting compounds)
It does add vibration though.
