Thermostat housing tips?

Thermostat housing tips?
Any tips on getting the thermostat housing bolts loose? I am having a hell of a time loosening them They dont look rusty, just are stuck.

They can be pretty tight due to the heat, use some penetrating oil to loosen the threads or get a long pipe as an extension for your socket wrench.

Another cool trick for the future is to put the correct socket and extenson on and firmly tap the end of the extension sending a fused metal breaking hit thought it all.

Should I just flush out the system? It sits at the exact same place on the gauge it did before and the fans kick on, but not very fast, must be low speed.

Oops. 
I just read it and it did make a difference. It does run way cooler driving, and sits one past the 200 mark at idle. It was higher than that before, it was actually a little past the second before. Im gonna go drive it and see what it does.
