I have the same problem and I change my oil every 3000 miles along with the filter and I have used 5w30 ever since I got my car a year ago and it just started having this problem a month ago. I got my oil changed since this has been going on and it seemed to help some but then it went back to fluctuating alot.

If it'* turning red, it corrosion, and time to dump/flush/replace.

Thanks Venom i Have changed oil since i owned it.(i bought the car last saturday) Changed the oil wednesday.. i noticed low oil pressure monday. and the previous owner was ase certified mechanic and was running a synthetic oil and told me to swtich over to 5w30. I have left a message today for him to get back to me, Which im sure he will. Also 96bonnie124 changed out his Oil relief valve and it did nothing for him? so i wonder what it could be?

I cant see why he would want you to change to a thinner when cold oil. It makes no sense. Especially on an older car with wear. 5W30 is for newer cars with closer parts clearances. You should stick with what is recommended in your years manual. I'm not a low oil wiz, but like I said, Bill will be on in the morning and we'll get his take on it.

The coolant in my '96 SE looks like a light red. How often does it need flushed? I haven't done it since I owned the car and I have no idea if the person before me who owned it.

I like to do it every 3 years. Old dinosaur rule, but hey,... I'm a dinosaur. Old Dex breaks down quicker than most, Best to get er flushed in case it'* never been done.

As far as coolant flushing, about every 36K miles or more. Or..if you've noticed corrosion, burnt smell, or you test it for a protection range and it fails.

Here'* a question? My coolant looks like a greenish coolor in the pic.. But the coolant in my reservoir looks like a oil mixed coolant, also around the reservoir there is sludge on walls.. But the Upper intake maniflold was just repaced. Could this be because He did not empty the reservior and clean it?? i have seen that before and thats what it looks like he didnt do? i pop the cap on the radiator and it looks like this

Also i was scared maybe the U.I.M. has some thing to do with the oil pressure so i marked the coolant level with a marker. it has not moved in level since i did this monday. I have drove the car over 460 miles
