Default Turn signal problem

My turn signals slowly gave up the ghost a couple of days ago. They didn't go out all at once, it was like they would blink 7 or 8 times, then stop. then the ext time I used them, 5-6 times. Over the course of the day, it got to where they don't work at all.

I tried to check the relay, but my diagram is gone. Anyone know which one is the turn signals? I swapped all the relays around with the same part number, there is only on that'* different. Anyway, anyone have an idea?

Yeah get a new turn signal flasher. It should be the big tin looking thing in your fuse box. Sounds like thats what went out. Its not uncommon for it to do so. :?

Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place! I assumed it was one of the relays under the hood. It'* the one on the fusebox?

No, and no. I think you're going to find that the fusebox-mounted one is your 4-way (emergency) flasher, not your turn-signal flasher. You can go ahead and pull it, then see which of the two quits working, but I think you're going to find that you've just disabled your 4-way flashers, not your turn signals.

The turn-signal flasher is mounted up behind the dash next to the steering column. Easiest way to find it is to remove the lower cover, the black plastic cover above the pedals, and look up. It'll either be dangling from a 2-wire pigtail or clipped to a steering column bracket.

I agree that from what you describe of the symptoms, your turn-signal flasher seems to be on the way out, especially if you have the same symptoms regardless of whether you're signalling a right or left turn. (If only one side _or_ the other is affected, it'* probably a bulb problem.)

There are no flashers or relays in my driver'* side fuse block. The only silver capped items are the fuses for the seats and sunroof. I took off the black plastic panel (which has the fuse block) and also removed the bolts holding the bottom of the cover under the column. I ran the hazard lights and traced the click to a flasher held in by a clip near the column soI was able to find this one. I followed the wiring harnesses from the column in to all the connectors, but never really got anywhere with that cuz I have no idea what color the wires would be anyway.
Are you saying there turn signal flasher is behind the instrument cluster? Or were you expecting it to be where i found the emer. flasher?

Ack; my bad. I think I mixed up the two; sorry. I was rummaging through the '93 service manuals yesterday in search of something else and came across instructions for the turn-signal flasher, and it turns out that it'* supposed to be behind the left-side lower panel (forget the official name but I think it was the panel to the left of the driver'* footwell.

I'll take a closer look at those instructions when I get a chance, or maybe you can just go exploring down there and let us know. (If it'll click at all for you, stick your head down in the footwell area and see if you can tell where the sound is coming from.)

Default Found it

The flasher turned out to be in a clip on the back side of the black plastic panel near the fuse block.
