I think it is fairly safe to say that all of the B'villes' with the plastic intakes WILL experience a leak around the upper intake at some point in time. Other than the obvious loss of coolant and a vacuum leak in the area of the leak, are there any other "symptoms" that may occur due to this "leakage"?

It'* not a foregone conclusion! You've already done the 180° Thermostat, now just add a tranny cooler, and it probably WON'T ever happen. JSeabert'* 93SSE is at 177,000 with the original intake.....granny car, it was babied, but still he'* gonna buy a little insurance. He watches his temp gauge like a hawk and kicks the fans on when he needs to.

As far as the symptoms are concerned, I think you've pretty much nailed it.

Oh, I have already determined that I have an intake leak. I can see what appears to be Dexcool residue around the intake on the rear corner on the drivers side. From what I have read it GM should really do a recall on this issue. But anyway.....Deathrat is going to email some instructions so I will do the repair myself. Now if you can hook me up on the tranny cooler instructions that is something I would consider doing myself as well......to say that I have had some bad experiences with our local dealer would be an understatement..............Thanks

Two questions:

How much will a new 180 thermostat set me back, and how easy/difficult is it to replace it yourself?
I'd like to save myself a headache down the road, too.
