best way to remove hard water stains? (photo included)
I have a 1996 Bonneville SSEi. Great car! However, the hard water in the area has left its mark:

Obviously, black shows the stains the most. They don't just wipe off. I guess the calcium is somehow bonded to the surface. What the preferred way to remove these stains without damaging the finish?

Its just water stains on plastic...wash the car again and shammy it down, or experiment with Wax as You Dry, or Mothers Back to Black, or whatever, that should wipe right off.
Or give us before and after pics. Remember its plastic, not ceramic tile.

As far as getting rid of what you've got, try washing it again. If that doesn't work, try a very fine polishing compound.

Yeah, like these guys said... try using a damp rag to wipe those spots off, if you look - theyre even on the window. but from what you posted, it sounds like you cannot get them off? if thats the case, try a good wax.

Will how did you get those pieces off? mine were faded, and the paint was coming off leaving bare metal, so i sanded, primed then painted mine a flat black until i come across some new ones. only thing is, i cant figure out how to get em off?

They're tricky. First roll down the windows. Then pry back the rubber window seal. You'll see 2 screws in there (from the outside). Remove the screws, and slide the piece up (with the door open, bozo!).

i have the same problem, i either hand dry it.or say who cares. also be careful what you use to dry it off. i used just a plain ol cotton towel and it jacked up my clearcoat BAD.it looks fine now but for a while it looked plum nasty
