Angry NO oil pressure

I was driving down the highway, getting ready to turn off into my town, my car bogged out really badly, the oil pressure dropped to 0, and a check gauges light came on. The car ran like hot steaming garbage for about 4 blocks to my driveway (thank god). I had plans to go to my dads garage and try and find out why my car was being a little bogged out and hesitant under loads, and now this happened.
The car is a 1995 bonneville SE i assume, its unmarked.
If anyone knows what might have happened, please let me know.
I'm prepared to accept hearsay, conjecture, make believe. Any of that would have me 2 steps ahead of where i am now.
Thanks!

I checked the oil once it cooled off a little, and its perfectly topped up. I tried to start it to proceed with operation fix this damn car, and when I started it, it clattered pretty good. I shut it off, after noting that it was still at 0 oil pressure. This really sucks a lot. I hate my car, but i wanna love it so bad. Please help me fix my man/car relationship.

From what your saying, you have no oil pressure, this is not a bad sender or gauge. Your oil pump may have died. Billboost is the man to talk to now.

Does an oil pump just die, all like drop of the hat style? I think this spoiled car wont stop till i replace the whole car part by part. That'* kind of what we were assuming, but I don't know the particulars of an oil pump. I guess i have just been lucky so far.
Billl??? buddy ol pal...... I have no car, no ideas, and a job to be at tomorrow. lol
Any advice on diagnosing this issue, and maybe what to expect work wise would be appreciated.
So Dan, am I the most unfortunate Bonneville owner you have met so far. If not how many more break downs until I am

Oh good lord,
I just found this post 1995 bonneville oil pressure problems - Car Forums and Automotive Chat what are the main bearings? I really don't like the sounds of that. :\

If you got coolant in your lower engine it would trash the main bearings. This can cause a drop in pressure.

Well game over folks. The motor is done. Now i have too much invested in this car and motor parts to let it go. Time to shop for a new engine. What a lot of wasted time and money.

Yea man. Me also. The rod under the piston did......something.... And broke cracked the piston punched a hole into the block and smashed itself to bits. There was a pile of metal in the oil pan.
