Default 95 SSEi codes - how to get em?

How do you pull codes on a 95 SSEi? Is there a way to do it without a scanner? Is it DRBII? What is a good scanner to get?

I just put mine on the road today, and all is well (aside from I don't think the previous owner thought balancing tires was important), but the traction control is on until I start driving, then it clicks off and I can't click it back on. I'm figuring there should be a code stored guiding me to the problem, but how to get it?

I'm a lazy old chrysler guy who'* used to clicking the key on and off 3 times, this is my first GM in 9 years

Thanks,

Dan

The '95 is OBD1 compliant but uses the OBD2 connector. The only way to get the codes out is to use a scan tool. Now for the TC, I believe that the only way to extract codes from this is thru the dealers scanning equipment (or spend a small fortune to get your own TC scanner ).

I have the exact same problem with my '95. I had it scanned (about $75us) and it came back to be a faulty control unit which is about $700 from the dealer. Somedays it turns off right away and others it will go for 45 minutes before shutting off.

:? Hope this helps some.

and welcome to the forum!

Thanks! I appreciate the tips.

Where can you get a factory service manual set for these?

They are available on e-bay every now and then. I believe there is a site you can buy them from but I don't remember what it is. I'm sure someone else (eg: willwren, jr's3800, demi-god, etc...) will know where.
