Question Interior lights will not turn off

Tonight was the first time the interior lights will not turn off. They are on now running down my battery. I had to drive home will all the lights blinding me. I have tried the headlamp switch and I have locked and unlocked the doors with the remote. I can't find any way to turn them off. Help!

The lights are off now. Are you saying you don't use any of the interior lights on your car now that you've taken out the fuse?

just,

It'* not often a problem with your year. I have had numerous problems with the headlight/twilight switch. Replaced it once in the '96 and twice in the '95. pita. There was something about the switch-load which made them fry and it would present itself as any different type of problem with headlights, inside lights.. they wouldn't come on or wouldn't go off.

I finally declared it a "feature", The work around both times was to skip using the headlight pull out **** and go to just a tad of "twilight". Just unclick it clockwise and leave it at the first mark. You'll never have to touch it again.

Another approach if headlights or inner lights won't go off is to just move the twilight switch as I said, then click it back. Sometimes that clears the light cycle too.

And honest to gosh, ocassionally the inner lights just won't go off because they feel like it. But then will clear after 15 minutes, there is supposed to be a light sweep at about that point in time to keep ya from suckin' the battery dry.

That switch is a pain. Twilight works great. FWIW

Embrace the Bonnevillism.

No i don't use the interior lights anymore, it does get annoying at some times but I don't have the setinal twilight in my car so I can never figure the problem out, I got the car and the gauges wouldn't light up so I replaced the switch and the lights still stayed on. It was they would go off every other time I closed the driver door and now they just stay on, so I took the fuse out and got over it. If there was a definate answer to fix them but so far no one has come up with one.

Ok, so i decided to go out and put a fuse back in and put my gauge light switch turn just until the click and the interior lights turn off. i put a 10a fuse where the 15a should be so i dont know maybe i justwasnt doing the right things before.

Stuff happens. Sometimes just explaining your situation on the boards helps solve the issue. You have to get your thoughts organized to explain it, and that makes a thought comes to mind.

Well I went to close my door and the lights stayed on, i open and close the door again and they shut off right away. Also they turn on when i pull the handle when it is locked. Is this supposed to happen?

Mine does.

I would check out the little plunger switch in the door jam. I've had these unscrew and fall behind the jam sheetmetal, and the lights will stay on. Sometimes the connector will break loose or fall off and will make intermittent contact with the inside of the jam sheetmetal, keeping the light on.

It sounds like you have narrowed down which door switch is acting up.

I haven't tried getting back behind the plunder switch in the Bonne, but in other cars, it can be a PITA.

Well they have been working fine since I put the fuse back in, maybe it was just one of those ghosts in the electronics messing with me.
