driver info screen and compass not working
Can anyone please help me with my Dad'* 1988 Bonneville SSE? The driver info screen and electronic compass no longer lights up or work. I've checked all the fuse panels I can find (under the steering wheel and in the passenger footwell - is there one under the hood (I couldn't see one there)). All fuses seem ok. Is it a relay? Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

First off check the multi connector on the back of the cluster! Second, if that doesn't do it then, check the bulbs in the cluster & look for any burnt sections on the circuit boards. Thirdly, check the sensors. Forth buy a new/used cluster!

I have a 95 so this may be a little different but here is how to calibrate mine.
Once you get it to say calibrate on the screen you drive in circles for like a minute in a wide open area (e.g. parking lot). This supposedly will let it redetermine where north is. If yours is always set to south, then there may be something interfearing. The magnets in my Alpine 6X9'* interfear with mine so mine are always a little off of north. I rather have good sound than the compass so I just left it alone.
Mine also can set time zones to acount for magnetic north. This may need to be readjusted after it is set.

Thanks you mentioned time zone :
I noticed that there is 15 zones settings , without an owners manual , I am located in Windsor , next to Detriot , GM head quarters , so what zone would that be ? 4 ?
Thanks !
Thanks !

According to my owners manual your in zone 9, almost in zone 10. The zones go from west to east across the US starting with Alaska as part of #1.
If you need any more help just let me know. I got the manual that explains how it all works.
